Always knowing you have options in life, and not being afraid to explore them.
My idea of living a good life is having opportunities to grow (career/relationship-wise), being financially stable, having a great support system, and being able to give back to my community.
I think anyone is capable of having a "good life" as long as they're honest with themselves and stick to their values and/or beliefs. i.e. if you value compassion or experimenting then as long as you live you life with those values in mind then it'll have been a good life for you. A good life will be different per person and their values.
This is an awesome question.
It has taken the whole of my life to this point to realize and accept that, for me, I love the simple life.
What do I mean by simplicity? A life of necessary routine (get up, shower, eat,...), a life of little stress, days of carefree hours, the means to buy little luxuries to enjoy life, give generously to charity, be good to your friends and family, hours adrift in music and cinema, a delicious meal, a good, hard laugh, smoking a spliff on a boat, drifting through a marsh watching whooping cranes, the moon hanging low and heavy, just enjoying the moment. Really, what do you think you will regret as you lay dying in your death bed?
All those years of 70+ work weeks and climbing the corporate ladder, the money... in the end, I chose to semi-retire while young and healthy. I want to gain the time I lost with my daughter. I like waking up on a week day, late and not bother going to work, and enjoying a decadent brunch. I like that I can travel overseas for weeks at a time and not worry about my finances.
A good life to me is being healthy having a job a place to live and loving yourself. These things are simple but for someone like me who has struggled with being healthy due to cancer most people take for granted being healthy as well as having employment with the way the finacial world has mess up many economy around the world. I think these things are what make your life good
